Hi! My name is Larry Glenn.
I have enjoyed 36 years as an elementary school teacher and I absolutely loved every year! My career included 10 years in the public school system in School District #34, Abbotsford, starting in 1987 with 5 years at Ten-Broeck Elementary School followed by 5 years at Harry Sayers Elementary School. Then in 1997 I began my 26 years at MEI, an independent school in Abbotsford, BC.
I graduated from Cariboo Hill Secondary School in Burnaby, BC. I attended the University of British Columbia where I earned a Bachelor of Music degree as well as completing my Teacher Training. I continued my education at the University of Portland, completing a Masters of Education degree.
One never really stops learning and I like to summarize my teaching as honestly saying I approach subjects as an enthusiastic learner rather than an authority. I am still improving as a learner and I hope as a teacher.
I have been happily married to my wife Barbara for over 39 glorious years! We've been constant companions since 1982!!
We have three wonderful children, Emily (& Chris and grandchildren Lily & Evalyn), Aaron (& Kate and grandchildren Lacey & Fife), & Laura!
Barbara and I met in the orchestra pit of a long-running musical. I actually sat across from her for almost a year, too shy to talk to her. After the musical was over, we met in the hallways of Douglas College. It was the first week of the term and we arranged our schedules to be in all of each other's classes. We quickly became good friends and married at the end of second year. Barb has been on staff at Abbotsford Senior Secondary School since 2007 and was two years at the Career and Technical Center (CTC) prior to that.
I have had the privilege of playing bass in several musicals over the years, starting in 1977 with "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat", as well as Annie, Joseph (again!), Fiddler on the Roof, Anne of Green Gables, Joseph (again!!), The Secret Garden, Beauty & the Beast, Music Man, The Sound of Music and Sister Act. And of course, lots of Christmas concerts and choir productions as well. It's been the greatest source of pleasure to be asked to play bass.
Barbara and I are actively involved at South Abbotsford Church where we are part of one of the church's Home Life Groups and regularly participate in the worship arts. I have played bass on many worship teams over the years and Barbara has regularly sang in the choral ensembles.
